Help name Beardsley Zoo's first baby red panda
Дата публикации: 25-09-2026 13:42:16
The public can help Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo name their first-ever red panda cub!
Starting Friday, the public can cast their choice for one of three possible names:
Ravi – a Nepali name that means sun
Tashi – a Tibetan name meaning fortunate or lucky
Pabu – a Tibetan word meaning fluffball
The cub was born on June 24 to first-time parents, Ponya and Pilot. The cub, a male, made history as the first red panda ever born at Beardsley Zoo.
The zoo said his birth is an important achievement for the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Red Panda Species Survival Plan (SSP), which works to maintain a healthy and genetically diverse population of the endangered species.
Voting is open from Friday, Sept. 25 to 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
You can head here to cast your vote!
The winner will be announced at 11 a.m. on Wednesday on the zoo’s Facebook and Instagram.
