Dermot O'Leary was left fighting back tears as the 'kindest kid in the country' shared the heartwarming way he spends his pocket money on This Morning.

The TV presenter was seen welling up after a VT was played in the studio showcasing Rowan Stapleton, from Salford, dishing out gifts to strangers using the money he had saved up from his birthday and Christmas presents. 

Dermot, 52, who was joined by co-star Alison Hammond on Tuesday morning, struggled to keep hold of his emotions over the sweet segment. 

Rowan, eight, rose to fame on social media through videos showcasing him giving out the likes of flowers, chocolates and food to people he has never met, including the elderly and the homeless around his hometown. 

Introducing Rowan, and his mum Toni to the show, a clip showcased the youngster opening up on how much it means to him to perform 'random acts of kindness'. 

The video saw Rowan giving out flowers to an elderly woman, who in turn gave him a hug, with other strangers shaking his hand after handing out food.  

Crossing his arms and sitting back on the sofa, turning away from the camera, Dermot reacted with tears in his eyes: 'Alright, I'm done in!' 

Composing himself, Dermot watched on as Rowan's mum explained more about his efforts to spread 'acts of kindness', saying: 'We used to go to churches when he was little and give bags of food, so it's always been imprinted in him.

'But he started himself off a Christmas advert when he was just five years old.'

Rowan continued: '[The advert] made me really sad so I asked my mum, "Can I go out to people and give them acts of kindness and spend my pocket money on them?".

'I don't think an eight year old would normally do it, but I have the heart to do this.'

Dermot was left fighting back his tears once again as Rowan described helping the homeless, giving out 'cake, tent and umbrella' to a local man he saw frequently.

Explaining how he collected funds for the acts of kindness, Rowan continued: 'I save up my pocket money from Christmas, birthdays, and my family's gift they give me.'

He also opened up on his fundraising efforts to 'raising a lot of money for people that need it', raising a total of £100 with the help of his football team.

Dermot and Alison were left open-mouthed as they revealed the GoFundMe page for Rowan had made £4,000 in the time he was on air.

'It's to raise money for people that need it and spread kindness,' mum Toni concluded, saying they had initially set their target at £700.

It comes after a mum broke down in tears live on This Morning as she revealed the reason she forgave a driver under the influence who killed her daughter.   

Schoolgirl Chloe, who was just 17 when she was killed in a car crash as she was driven home by Keilan Roberts, then 21, who was under the influence of drugs and alcohol after a night out. 

Chloe had been enjoying a night out with friends in Pontypridd, Wales, in 2022 when her phone died, and she was struggling to find a way to get home. 

She accepted an offer from Keilan, who she had met earlier in the night, and after taking a taxi to where his car had been left, the pair were involved in a horror crash.

Nonetheless, despite the shock loss of her only daughter, Danielle O’Halloran decided to forgive Keilan, and keeps in 'regular' contact with him - in the hopes of highlighting the damaging affects of 'making the wrong choice'. 

Danielle, 40, has gone against the wishes of some of her family members in highlighting how Keilan 'carries the guilt' of his actions, and openly forgiving him to inspire others to be 'deterred' from driving under the influence.
