Alison Hammond led her This Morning co-stars as they transformed into Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat and The Red Queen for a spooktacular Halloween episode on Friday.

The 50-year-old returned to our screens alongside co-host Dermot O'Leary, 52, to present the latest instalment of the scary-themed ITV show. 

Alison told viewers: 'Happy Halloween! Welcome to a very spooky This Morning!'

Dermot said: 'Firstly, thank you to wonderful team putting the whole thing together - some great dancers. Give it up for everyone.

'If you haven't guessed already, this year, we have stepped through the looking glass to put our very own spooky spin on Lewis Carroll's classic children's novel Alice in Wonderland.'

Alison chimed in: 'No babes, I think you've mistaken it a little bit. 

'It's Alison in Wonderland. It's me in Wonderland babes! Remember Alison in Wonderland.' 

Alison looked incredible dressed up as Alice in Wonderland, while Dermot rocked a Mad Hatter costume. 

Josie Gibson dressed up as the Caterpillar from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. 

While Gyles Brandreth and Ashley James took on the roles of Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee from Alice Through The Looking Glass. 

Chef Phil Vickery dressed up as the Cheshire Cat and presenter Steve Wilson donned the garb of the White Rabbit. 

Meanwhile consumer journalist and presenter Alice Beer wowed in a Queen of Hearts look. 

Unfortunately at the start of the episode, they suffered with a technical difficulty, which meant that viewers didn't get to see their complete incredible spooky dance routine. 

Just before reading the headlines with Dermot, Gyles and Ashley, Alison said:  'We need to fess up, we really do, we had this huge number at the start of the show, but these gremlins got in the way and stopped us from showing...'

She then hinted that the Cheshire Cat had pulled the plugs - which meant that nobody could see the routine.  

The routine saw Alison and Dermot show off their best moves with the professional dancers.

'It was good, wasn't it?' Alison asked Dermot.

Dermot said: 'It was great. Well done.' 

'We've been rehearsing all this week!' Alison confessed. 

Their huge efforts didn't go a miss on social media, with many sharing their thoughts on X, formerly known as Twitter.

'ITV’s This Morning has gone very silly for Halloween today.' 

While others shared the same question about the unusual theme.  

'What's alice in wonderland got to do with halloween.'

'As some one asked, wtf has Alice in Wonderland to do with Halloween.'

'What has Alice in Wonderland got to do with Halloween?'

'Is it Book Day or Halloween?'
