Drake has pulled off a huge stunt in Toronto, ‘freezing’ the CN Tower in a bid to promote his new album ‘Iceman’.

The Canadian rap star had been teasing the release of ‘Iceman’ in recent months, and dropped the record on Friday (May 15) alongside two more surprise albums, ‘Habibti’ and ‘Maid Of Honour’.

Ahead of the release, Drake embarked on a few various stunts to promote the new material, including concealing its release date in a giant block of ice in Toronto in April, also driving around in a box truck with “Iceman” written on it and freezing his courtside seats at Scotiabank Arena.

The biggest stunt, however, came on album release day when the rapper appeared to freeze the huge CN Tower in the heart of Toronto.

He commissioned and created the spectacle alongside Anil Mohabir and his company Studio AM, using millions of dollars worth of equipment to project lights onto the building to make it appear like it was freezing over.

As reported by CBC, the digital and visual design firm led by Mohabir “took into account the 3D geometry of the tower” and created the illusion of it freezing in real time by using “computer animation all the way to the top”.

Once it reached the top of the building, there were different effects used to make it look like light was hitting the “ice” from different angles and make it look more realistic.

Mohabir told the outlet that he was given just three weeks to pull off the stunt, and did so using a team of 300 people and by having 75 projectors brought in from around the world and staggered at all different heights around the CN Tower.

The whole thing cost tens of millions of dollars to pull off, and Mohabir told CBC that the projectors alone were worth $15 million, and the lenses they required cost millions more.

“We’re just a bunch of kids from Toronto that kind of have crazy ideas and crazy dreams… Through the conduit of Drake, we’re given the opportunity to execute [them] at a really high level,” the designer said, adding that everyone was “almost in a bit of shock” when they executed the stunt.

The three new albums are Drake’s first since 2023’s ‘For All The Dogs’ – although he did drop ‘$ome $exy $ongs 4 U’ last year, a collaborative record with PartyNextDoor.

The 18-track ‘Iceman’ includes guest appearances from Future, Molly Santana and 21 Savage and was preceded by the single ‘What Did I Miss?’ last summer. Its track ‘Make Them Cry’ immediately became the most streamed song in a single day of 2026 on Spotify, while the three records combined to break a number of other streaming records for Drake.

It is also Drake’s first to be released since his all-encompassing beef with Kendrick Lamar, and ensuing lawsuit against Universal Music Group – and you can check out the list of everyone Drake dissed on the record here.
