Last week, the conservative TV host found herself at the center of discussion after a clip from her Citizen McCain podcast went viral. In it, she praised New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani as "authentic" and warned Republicans to look out.
Calling him a "generational talent," Meghan compared Mamdani to former president Barack Obama and encouraged Republicans to take note. "We should all be grateful he can't run for president because he would be a formidable candidate in about 10 years," she said.
Meghan continued, "I can't believe I'm hyping him up this much, but I think Republicans should be scared," adding that she believes the overwhelming positive reception to Mamdani could pave the way for a democratic socialist presidential nominee in 2028.
The clip ended up being shared across multiple spaces online, where it also sparked some negative commentary about her looks.
Reacting to the clip on X, one person wrote, "That’s Megan? Wow, did not recognize her."
"She looks so different 👀," another person said, as others in the comments made age-related and body-shaming remarks.
Meghan eventually addressed the criticism on the July 22 episode of Citizen McCain.
"I am normally an Armadillo-skinned person," she began, "and there’s been a lot of commentary about how 'old and ugly' I am now."
Displaying photos of herself throughout different stages of her life, Meghan acknowledged that she doesn't look the same as she once did — which she said is completely OK with her.
"That's fine," she said. "I'm 41 years old ... I’m going to age. I’m going to get older. I am fatter because I’ve had three kids."
Meghan went on to explain how motherhood has shifted her priorities.
"I look different because I don’t have professional hair and makeup every day, and sometimes, in the morning, it’s more important for me to get my kids ready, to spend time with them and feed my son, than it is for me to get ready, which is why I don’t always have my hair and makeup done to your liking.”
She also noted that she doesn't use Botox or Ozempic.
"I'm going to continue aging," Meghan said. "I'm not gonna look the way I looked when I was at The View. I'm not gonna look the way I looked when I was on Fox News. I'm not going to look the way I looked when my dad was alive, and I was with him at every single event possible."
She concluded: "We're all going to have to collectively come together that I'm gonna continue aging, and I'm not a facelift, injectable person, and I don't have professional makeup... Okay? Thank you."
