State pensioners born after 1951 are due to receive £965 from the Department for Work and Pensions ( DWP ) this Friday. While benefit payments will largely be distributed as normal in August, it's important to note certain bank holiday dates depending on your location.

The Summer Bank Holiday falls on Monday 31 August for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Scotland observes this holiday earlier, on Monday 3. Payments due on bank holidays are typically made on the preceding working day.

This impacts the state pension - amounting to £965 for state pensioners born after 1951 if they're men, and 1953 if they're women.

Benefit payments will go out as usual for the most part in August, but there are bank holiday dates to be aware of depending on where you live.

Benefit payments will go out as usual for the most part in August, but there are bank holiday dates to be aware of depending on where you live.

Due to the change in benefit date, some individuals will receive their payment on July 31. The basic state pension is directly deposited into bank accounts, much like other benefits, reports Birmingham Live.

It's usually paid every four weeks, with the specific day you receive it linked to the last two digits of your national insurance (NI) number.

Based on these numbers, the days you should expect payment are: 00 to 19 - Monday, 20 to 39 - Tuesday, 40 to 59 - Wednesday, 60 to 79 - Thursday and 80 to 99 - Friday.

The DWP confirmed: "After you've claimed your State Pension you'll get a letter about your payments.

"The new State Pension is usually paid into your account every 4 weeks. If you want to change the account, tell the Pension Service.

"There are different rules if you live abroad."

When you make a claim, you'll be asked to specify when you'd like to start receiving your State Pension. Your first payment will arrive no later than 5 weeks after the date you've chosen.

You'll then receive a full payment every 4 weeks thereafter, as both the DWP and Labour Party government website further explain.

You may receive a partial payment before your first full one. The letter confirming your State Pension payment will provide details on what to expect.
