New Accessibility Features Now Available at City Buildings

Hearing assistive technologies, known as hearing loops, are now available at key reception counters across City Hall, North Shore Emergency Management (NSEM) and the North Vancouver RCMP. 

Signage is displayed at equipped reception counters to help visitors identify where support is available. 

Community members that have cochlear implants or hearing aids with a telecoil (T-coil) now have access to increased communications support when visiting these reception areas, helping make everyday interactions more accessible, comfortable and inclusive.

Preparing for Annual Cemetery Cleaning 

As we get ready to welcome the spring season, it's time for our annual cemetery cleanup.

Throughout April, the City will be conducting a spring clean of the cemetery to ensure a safe and serene environment for all. Memorial adornments that are not permitted in the cemetery will be removed during this cleanup.

Non-perishable items that are removed will be carefully stored at the cemetery office for three months. Visitors are asked to take items they wish to keep before April 1 or visit the cemetery office by July 1 to retrieve them.

Heritage Engagement: Last Chance to Share Your Input Online

Share your thoughts online before the virtual information session closes tomorrow, March 13! 

New provincial legislation (Bill 25) requires updates to the Official Community Plan (OCP) and Zoning Bylaw to allow small-scale multi-unit housing on more properties across the City, including in heritage neighbourhoods. Your feedback will help inform updates to the design guidelines that shape how new housing fits into our neighbourhoods.

You can also participate in the OCP Town Hall on April 1 to learn more and ask questions about the proposed updates.

The Arrival of Spring – Recognize Nowruz on March 20

Nowruz, which means “new day," is a festival marking the arrival of spring. Also known as the Persian New Year, this year Nowruz takes place on March 20. 

The City is recognizing the holiday with a Haft-Sin table available for public viewing at City Hall on March 20. The table will be artfully arranged with seven items that symbolize various attributes of life and prosperity to celebrate the arrival of spring. 

Now more than ever, it's important to come together as a community and celebrate traditions like Nowruz—a celebration of life, rebirth and the triumph of light over darkness.

• Place garbage and Green Can items on the curb between 5:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on collection day. 
• Keep bins indoors or in a secure enclosure on non-collection days. 
• Keep garbage, Green Cans, barbeques and drip trays clean by washing them regularly. 
• Remove bird feeders between April and November. 
• Feed pets indoors. 
• Pick fruit as it ripens, and remove fallen fruit.
