  • Dodge is showing off a range of new looks for the Charger and Durango at Roadkill Nights in Pontiac, Michigan.
  • The Durango R/T 392 Smokescreen concept wears a snazzy graphic featuring a blue front end that gives way to white paint via a pixelated pattern.
  • Dodge also announced the Color Jailbreak program, which will allow owners access to custom colors, with Dodge showing Cha Ching Green on a Charger and Toxic Orange on a Durango.

Dodge has a rich history of fun, creatively named paint colors. It started in the late 1960s with hues like Plum Crazy, Go Mango, and Sublime, which were paired with a variety of stripes and other graphics. And while there are already plenty of ways to personalize your Dodge, the company is using this year's Roadkill Nights event in Pontiac, Michigan, to show off a number of potential new looks, from the Durango R/T 392 Smokescreen concept to several fresh colors.

The Durango R/T 392 Smokescreen concept shows one potential avenue Dodge could go down, adding an eye-catching graphics package to the automaker's V-8-powered SUV. While most of the concept is painted in a white hue dubbed Smokescreen, the front end has been dipped in Cryo Blue, with a unique pattern that gradually sheds the blue in a series of pixelated cutouts.

Nestled in among these dispersed blocks of blue on the front doors is a stylized 392 badge, referencing the 475-horsepower 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 engine. The white blocks on the front end form a sort of robotic racing stripe, which switches to blue-over-white once it reaches the roof.

The Smokescreen concept rides on 20-inch forged wheels finished in Cryo Blue with subtle orange accents that echo the amber daytime running lights. The livery is certainly attention-grabbing, although it does make the Durango look a bit like a cop car. Inside, the Smokescreen concept features Petrol Blue Laguna leather seats with silver stitching, while the steering wheel and dashboard are wrapped in suede and accented by carbon-fiber trim.

Dodge is also testing the waters for its new Color Jailbreak program, which will act as a custom color service to give customers the ability to make their cars stand out even more. To gauge the reaction of the buying public, Dodge is showing off a Durango SRT Hellcat Jailbreak in searing Toxic Orange paint and a Charger Scat Pack in the deep, lush Cha Ching Green hue. Full details on the Color Jailbreak program won't be available until later this year, but Dodge says that the special paint colors are meant to come with price tags "targeted at the masses rather than the select few."

Dodge is also utilizing Roadkill Nights to display the new Tinted Dual Stripes graphic, which will soon be available as a factory-installed option on the Durango and Charger. Thanks to a tinted translucent finish, these racing stripes allow the body color to peek through from underneath, creating a more low-key look. There are two examples on view at Roadkill Nights, a Charger painted in Bludicrous and a Durango GT Hemi painted in Redeye. The Durango is also fitted with the new Brass Monkey package, adding dark bronze 20-inch wheels and black fender badges.

While the Tinted Dual Stripes and Brass Monkey package are already destined for production, it's unclear exactly what the future holds for the Smokescreen graphics package and which hues might become available through the Color Jailbreak program. Dodge will leave that up to its fans, allowing attendees to choose from a "rainbow of high-impact color options" and vote for their favorites at the show.
