Over the weekend, it was announced that the Princess of Wales completed the Three Peaks challenge. She scaled Ben Nevis, the highest peak in Scotland; Scafell Pike, the highest in England; and Snowdon, the highest in Wales, within 24 hours to raise money for the hospital where she was treated.
The challenge is impressive in itself, but so is completing it when the British weather has been flip-flopping between suffocatingly hot and hideously wet. Barbour's Women's Hybrid Jacket is our top pick, as it bears a strong resemblance to the one the Princess wears, only it comes in a lighter colour. Priced at £105 (on sale from £129), you can pick it up in a size 8 through to 16. Plus, with a quilted front panel with contrast fabric inserts, a hood that can be tightened in case you hit windy patches and handy side pockets, it's a brilliant functional find for half the price of Kate's.

On a similar note, and also in a lighter cream shade, Regatta's Women's Andreson Hybrid Water-Repellent Jacket is a bargain at only £30 (on sale from £60), with stock left for sizes 8, 10, 14, 18 and 20. This lightweight layer also comes in a blue, a pink or a navy colourway, to suit your taste. With some insulation to provide lightweight warmth and a water-repellent finish that repels light showers, it's also an excellent pick for summer hikes.
Finally, Trespass Women's Hybrid Jacket Wando is another bargain at £35.99 and comes in a khaki colourway. In sizes 8-16, like Kate's, it has a hood and insulated panelling, but comes with the added bonus of featuring a cosy sherpa fabric on the arms – ideal if the weather gets a little chillier as you summit.
