Claire Bateman, this year’s Lady Captain at Richmond Golf Club, held her special ‘Lady Captain’s Day’ on Saturday, June 20.

On a gloriously sunny summer day, she invited the lady members of the club to join her to play golf – but in fancy dress.

All of the players dressed for the occasion with some amazing outfits, including Pinky & Perky, Salt n’ Pepper, Barbie Dolls, The Blues Brothers – with the prize for the best going to Clair Jones and Lynn Nowicki, who came as the Ab Fab girls Patsy & Eddie.

Claire Bateman said, "What a great day we had with such tremendous outfits and some excellent golf, followed by a lovely barbecue."

The results were as follows:

Winners of the 18-hole competition - Nicola Bailey & Andrea Offord.

Winners of the 9-hole competition - Clair White & Judith Benson.

Nearest the Pin on the 9th - Sarah Brown.

Nearest the Pin in 2 shots on the 11th - Vicky Matthers.

Chipping competition – Eileen Catt.

Meanwhile, Richmond Golf Club held its annual 2-day RDC Trophy Competition for gents on Saturday, 20th and Sunday, 21st June.

With very warm conditions, some excellent golf was played over the two days.

The overall winner of the RDC Trophy was David Stabler.

He was the gross winner with two excellent rounds of golf for a four over total.

Albert Nowicki and Gary Emmerson will play off for the nett prize after finishing tied on 6 under.
