Captain's Day has been hailed a resounding success at Enniskillen Golf Club.

The flagship event was held in honour of club captain Jimmy Mohan, who welcomed 119 members and visitors to the fairways for a day of golf and celebration.

It is one of the most anticipated dates in the club’s calendar.

He personally greeted every player on the first tee, setting a warm and welcoming tone for a day that celebrated both competition and community.

Under sunny skies and with the course in top condition, participants enjoyed a full day of golf organised with the support of a dedicated team of volunteers, who helped with everything from course preparation to hospitality.

The club’s ladies team was also praised for its role in providing refreshments throughout the day.

After the final putts were made, almost 90 people gathered in the clubhouse for an evening meal and the prize-giving ceremony.

During the celebrations, Mr Mohan thanked his family, friends, and the volunteers who contribute year-round to the smooth running of the club.

He also recognised the efforts of the greens staff and those working in the clubhouse.

The captain was joined by his sister, Angela Doran, during the prize presentation.

Daniel Clyde emerged as the overall winner with a nett score of 67, securing victory on a countback with a stronger back nine.

Derek Elliott and Paddy Duffin also finished with nett 67s, taking second and third respectively after countback.

Steven Craig claimed the gross prize with a 73.

Gary Johnston finished fourth overall with a nett 68.

Brian O’Reilly won the Front 9 prize with a nett 35, while Aidy McPhillips took the Back 9 prize with a nett 32.

Nearest the Pin honours went to Rory Browne on the sixth and James Lawn on the 14th.

In the seniors’ category, Roy Kempton took top spot with a nett 73.

The visitors’ competition was equally competitive, with Gerry Tierney winning on 37 points and John O’Neill finishing second with 36 points.

Raymond Brownlee secured the EGGS prize with 18 points.

The ladies’ Captain’s prizes produced standout performances, with Helena Tisdall taking victory on 41 points.

Joanne Daly finished second with 37 points.

Patricia Durnien won the Front 9 prize with 19 points, while Anne Reihill claimed the Back 9 with the same score.

Sally Redman picked up the Thursday Ball prize with 17 points, and Irene Bownes was Nearest the Pin on the 11th.

The event showcased the best of the club’s community spirit, volunteer dedication and love for the sport.
