MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Marion County Lady Warriors are still alive in the AA softball state tournament, but the road got a little bumpier Thursday as a revenge win by Summertown forced a win or go home battle Friday.

The Warriors (33-11) and Lady Eagles (31-9) will scrap to see who goes to the championship game Friday in Smyrna after Summertown defeated Marion 5-1.

Summertown scored first in the top of the second inning with a lead-off double and back-to-back singles to go up 1-0.

The Eagles added four more runs in the fifth against relief pitcher Brynna Thomasson. Summertown hitters racked up four singles, a walk and a hit batter to run the score to 5-0.

The Warriors broke up the shutout in the bottom of the sixth beginning with a double to left field by Thomasson. Marion loaded the bases with one out and a fielder's choice scored Thomasson to make it a 5-1 game.

The Warriors held Summertown scoreless in the top half of the seventh and had a chance to put runs on the board in the bottom half of the inning.

Albany Harris led off the Marion inning with a walk, but was erased on a 6-3 double play. Brylee Thomasson kept the inning alive, but a ground out to shortstop ended the day for the Warriors.

The Warriors and Eagles will face off Friday in an elimination contest at Cedar Stone Park in Smyrna.
