Corvette enthusiasts love comparison tests and especially when one of those cars is GM’s new flagship: The 1,250-hp C8 Corvette ZR1X. Even better than watching the ZR1X beating up on unsuspecting exotics costing much more is when the comparison happens with a member of the family, and then the matchup and the results hit harder based on which camp you might be in. In this case, the mighty ZR1X will be running against Wheeler’s Arctic White 2025 Corvette ZR1.

That Racing Channel wanted to see what the new Corvette ZR1X could do against a bolt-on modified Corvette ZR1, and so they arranged this dance-off party at Orlando’s Speed World.

That Racing Channel uses the Chevy performance matchup to show off their new Trofii Racing App which has all kinds of features a drag-racer would want to know including a DA calculator, a 60-130 mph time predictor, and two “online” modes that allows you to see “who’s online nearby” as well as a Callouts mode that offers two users worldwide the ability to race each other using their own GPS devices.

The Corvette ZR1X is Chevrolet’s AWD monster capable of 8-second quarter mile passes straight from the factory, and it has rewritten the rule book on what a Corvette can be. This Torch Red ZR1X is owned by a gent named Cary and he says it just got a new exhaust but retains its cats. In the opposite lane is a lightly modified Corvette ZR1 that was previously known as the World’s slowest ZR1, but since then the car (and its driver) have come a long way in being able to showcase its ability to punch above its weight. The mods on the ZR1 includes an Enventuri cold air intake, downpipes, and a Soul Performance full-flow competition exhaust (no cats, no mufflers).

In the first matchup between Wheeler’s ZR1 and Cary’s ZR1X in which the cars were run separately and then the times compared in the Trofii app, Wheeler’s ZR1 takes it with a run of 9.75 @ 147 mph versus the ZR1X running 9.91 @ 146.5 mph. Showing off the app’s callout feature based on 60-130 MPH times in a roll race, the ZR1 takes the matchup by running 4.874 seconds versus the ZR1X which runs 5.674 seconds.

As you can see from these times, we think it comes down to the “pilot in the box” as Wheeler has a full year’s worth of ownership of the ZR1 and has learned how to properly launch the car while the ZR1X driver always seemed to be a tick or two off the mark.

As for the Trofii app, it looks pretty cool for those that are really into competing with their Corvettes. It’s live now on the app stores for both iOS and Android users. You can see more at trofii.com.
