BBC Radio 2 presenter Vernon Kay was full of praise for a 'beautiful town on the north coast of Wales' during his show, whilst also celebrating the Great Orme landmark.

Vernon Kay mentioned a town he loves in North Wales while doing shout outs on his BBC Radio 2 show on Friday morning.

Amongst those receiving recognition was someone named Arnie who, as it transpired, was located in a town along the north Wales coastline.

Upon discovering this, Vernon seized the moment to compliment Arnie's location. He said: "Arnie is fourth at Llandudno Junction, 29 degrees I know it very well. Beautiful town on the north coast of Wales. Been on the Great Orme many, many times."

Vernon's remarks arrive weeks after Llandudno received significant positive news with confirmation of a new railway service connecting Liverpool city to the resort. The service would operate directly without requiring changes.

Previously, travellers were required to change at Chester, but no longer. The journey will now last around one hour and 45 minutes, operating roughly once hourly, the Express reported.

Following the announcement, Transport for Wales indicated the modification would boost services along the North Wales Coast Line by approximately 50 per cent.

In a statement released after the announcement, Transport for Wales' planning and performance director Colin Lea said: "We're now just days away from delivering a major improvement to rail services as part of Network North Wales. The new timetable will bring more frequent trains and better connections for our customers in North and West Wales.

"These changes represent a significant step forward, with a simpler, more consistent timetable and increased capacity across some of our busiest routes. Alongside the introduction of pay as you go, we're making it easier than ever for people to choose rail and travel sustainably."

Vernon isn't the sole celebrity to have sung Llandudno's praises, with pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo having recently paid a visit to the seaside town. Olivia, 23, caused quite a stir when she unexpectedly turned up at the local M&S supermarket.

She discussed her trip to the town in 2024 during an interview with Jordan North on Capital Radio, recounting how a problem with her credit card left her unable to make many purchases. She recalled: "I was in this tiny little town called Llandudno.

"I had a credit card that didn't work in any place that wasn't America, and nobody took it and I had no food at the hotel. I was just wandering around Wales and I couldn't find anything to eat, and then my card worked in a place that served sausage rolls, so I just ate sausage rolls for a whole day.

"Then I think like a pub took my card too, so I had like sausage rolls and like white wine. That's like all I had that day. Kind of cool. Looking back kind of a great memory."
