A 100-year-old Warrensburg man died Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash at Young Street and Warren Street in Warrensburg, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at 1:05 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17.

The patrol reported a southbound 2019 Buick Encore, driven by the 100-year-old Warrensburg man, failed to yield at a stop sign and entered the path of an eastbound 2026 Ford Maverick.

The Ford Maverick, driven by a 73-year-old Warrensburg woman, struck the Buick Encore on the side.

The man was not wearing a seat belt, according to the patrol. He was taken by emergency medical services to Western Missouri Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 1:41 p.m. by Dr. Edwards. 

The patrol report did not list any injuries for the woman. She was wearing a seat belt.

The Buick Encore was totaled, while the Ford Maverick sustained moderate damage. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Tip Top.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Warrensburg Police Department, Warrensburg Fire and Rescue, and Johnson County Emergency Medical Services.

The patrol identified the collision as Troop A’s 34th fatal crash of 2026 and the 37th fatality for the year.
