Communicating with infants is always a challenge. After all, when one party only drools and looks adorable, the conversation can get pretty dull, pretty fast. But one dad on TikTok is warming hearts with the cute way he discovered to have a heart-to-heart with his son.

Mike DelMoro recently shared a TikTok captioned: “Having a conversation with our 9 month old.” The clip, which has been viewed nearly 300,000 times, shows DelMoro laying on the floor with his son, Wesley. Both are on their tummies, arms and legs flailing, as they squeal at one another.

“The way we are going to yap when he gets older,” DelMoro wrote in his post. Throughout the sweet clip, baby Wesley squeals with delight, giggles, and throws his arms and legs around, only to grow even more happy as his dad mimics his behavior. It’s an adorable reminder that sometimes, the best way to connect with a kid of any age is to just get down on their level and spend quality time together.

DelMoro’s post is filled with comments from people who found the dad-and-baby chat just as enjoyable as little Wesley did. “This is the most productive conversation I’ve heard all morning,” said one follower. “I’m taking the baby’s side in this debate,” wrote another.

DelMoro shares often about parenting with his husband, Alec, and his sweet post with his son led other followers in same-sex relationships to share their own wishes to have a family some day. “I hope to experience this one day with my boyfriend,” said one commenter. Another added, “I am really proud of you two and hope one day me and my future husband will have one, too.”

“Sir this is the baby’s lawyer and my client is 100% right in the matter,” another joked. “Happy Pride!”

Pride Month, which was in June, may have ended, but you can keep the celebration going all year long by reading these children’s books about LGBTQ families or whipping up some of these rainbow-colored recipes at home.
