After trailing 1-0 in the opening game of the TSSAA Class A State Soccer tournament, CSLA tied the game in the second half and scored a thrilling overtime goal to earn a 2-1 win over Merrill Hyde in Murfreesboro Tuesday afternoon.

Merrol Hyde opened the scoring in the 22nd minute.

CSLA answered just a few minutes later when Adrick Hall scored in the 24th minute, tying the game at 1-1.

Despite a 28-15 shots advantage by CSLA they could not muster the game winner in the second half.

CSLA’s Henry Spain scored the game winner in the 92nd minute assisted by Joshua Dixon.

CSLA keeper Mark Herrick recorded 10 saves.

The Eagles, making their first ever state tournament appearance, advance to play Independence Academy Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. The winner will advance to the Class A state championship to be played on Friday at 1:30 p.m.

SOUTH GIBSON 2 SIGNAL MOUNTAIN 1 Signal Mountain and South Gibson were tied at one at the half on Tuesday in the Class AA state soccer tournament but South Gibson scored the game winner in the second half and held on for the 2-1 win. 

Signal Mountain’s Asher Core scored their lone goal in the 35th minute to tie the game at one. Core’s goal was assisted by Cole Moore and Malachi Drumm.  

BEARDON 4 CLEVELAND 2 Cleveland gave up three first half goals and ended up losing 4-2 to Brandon in the Class AAA soccer tournament. 

Both of Cleveland’s goals came in the second half, with Sloan Bloanos scoring the 65th minute and Logan Wilson scoring the 78th minute.
