Re: Hugely regretting going back to Sky

Дата публикации: 29-06-2026 20:31:14

The fact your only getting 22mbps to the tv shows there is a problem somewhere. I'm guessing you're getting interference where the tv and puck are located. The puck will show less because everything is stored on Sky's servers, very little on the box itself.

So I tried the speed test as you suggested. The speed from the puck is 0.759Mbps. If I run it from the same account but from the app on my TV, it's 22Mbps. Does that point to my puck being broken or just problems with the Sky service?

If that is your speed on the puck, your are not going to get a reliable service.

The puck as a device can be subject to some interference and a drop in its wifi signal if placed poorly.

Normally we would suggest the following, but it sounds like your wifi signal is not that strong, from your TV reading.

Make sure you have a good 6-8 inches free on all sides of the puck.

Do not stack the puck on top of any other device.

If you can, place the puck in the open, not tucked away in a cabinet or sat directly behind the TV.

Make sure you have no other devices that can cause interference closeby, like cordless phones, radiators, baby monitors, smart meter in home displays, microwaves and the like.

Sky recommend a  minimum broadband available speed of 25Mbps

Or 30Mbps if you add an extra Sky Stream puck or to watch in UHD

If you use the Sky Sports live sync option or the new BBC/ITV real time channels you will need a few more Mbps at least extra  available per puck.

Just for clarity, what is your broadband speed at your router that your ISP package mentions.

Even with the TV showing 22Mbps, you really are going to struggle with your wifi connection, even if your puck had a similar speed to your TV.

If you are on a low connection, not fibre broadband I assume, it may be worth looking at connecting an ethernet cable to your router. If you do that, make sure you tried off wifi in the Sky Stream puck settings.
