The Cleveland Aqua Tigers pulled off a rare "double-up" in Chattanooga Area Swim League action Monday evening, surpassing the 500-point mark for the first time in more than a decade thrashing the Cumberland Currents for their third straight win to open the Chattanooga Area Swim League summer season.

Becoming just the second CASL team to eclipse the lofty level this season, the undefeated Aqua Tigers roared to a 508.5-253.5 thrashing of the Cumberland Currents, for the second-highest point tally of the campaign.

"I want to say the last time we put up 500 in a meet I was 12 years old on the team," related CAT head coach Trey Parris.

"It’s amazing to see in Year 5 now as head coach where this team is at. 

"Really proud of our older kids and the leadership they have put forward this season. Excited to be 3-0, but we still have a lot of things to keep working on as City Meet is approaching." 

Blue Division leader Ooltewah (5-0) has the high-point mark this season with 510-294 over Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., plus posted a 506-263 blowout of Signal Mountain.

One of just three unbeaten CASL teams, which also includes Red Division leader Big Ridge (4-0),  CAT will return to the Tinsley Park pool Monday as the Red Bank Gators (3-1) come to town for a rematch of last week's 406-401 outcome.

Cumberland will host the Fairyland Flash Thursday, with both teams looking for their first win of the season.

With an amazing 24 double-digit scorers, to just nine for the opponents, the Aqua Tigers dominated from the start, winning 10 of the dozen age divisions Monday evening.

The victors got "Perfect 19s" from Maddie Peterson, plus Lee and Teddy Elliott, each posting five first-place finishes.

A half dozen Aqua Tigers — Marian Christmann, Emma Grace Myers, Santiago Elred, Sophie Hughes, Kevin Curley and Ben Condo — helped out with 17-point efforts each. 

The CAT girls blew the Current ladies out of the water by a 267.5-92.5 margin, taking all half dozen divisions, while the Tigers went 4-2 with a 241-161 difference. The hosts held just a 52-50 edge in total swimmers competing in the meet.

CAT swept the youngest division with Cassie Peterson and Lily Lackey notching nine and seven points, respectively, in the Girls 6 & Under, while Theo Lackey led the boys with 13 markers, plus got a half dozen from teammate Nicholas Frazier.

The Lady Tigers took four of the top five spots in the 7-8 competition with Caroline Kate Elrod leading the way with 14.5 and Palmer Blackmon's 14 ranking 1-2.

Evie Peterson and Charlotte Lackey helped out with nine and six points for the Nos. 4-5 slots in the 43.5-22.5 win, despite Cumberland having seven of the 11 swimmers in the water.

Charlie Lowe topped the Currents with 12.5 points for third place in the division.

The Currents picked up their lone division win in the Boys 7-8, outnumbering the hosts 6-4 in a 37-27 tally. 

Tiger Nathan Jossart won the bracket with 13 points, but the visitors claimed the next three spots — Bear McConnell (11), Jude Galpin (11) and Theodore Pickens (8). Logan Gregory gave the home team seven points to take fifth place.

Despite being a swimmer shy of the visitors in both, the Aqua Tigers swept the 9-10 divisions, with the Lady Tigers racing to a 53-24 victory, winning four of the Top 5 spots.

Emma Grace Myers took the title with 17 points, while Stevie Rose McDaniel and Savannah Rose 12.5 and 12 points, for second and third place, respectively. Stella Clark was fifth with seven markers.

Ruby Medley led Cumberland with 10 points.

In the boys, the Tigers did take the Top 4 slots for a 48-22 victory, with Kevin Curley's 17, plus 15 from Darius Willington-O'Rourke, 14 from Boone Bibee and eight by Caleb Watson.

Lee Elliott's "perfection" led CAT's 54-23 dominance in the Girls 11-12, with Reed Blackmon tacking on 15, and Olivia Hughes a dozen to sweep the Top 3 finishes.

The Currents rebounded with a 46-26 margin in the Boys 11-12, sweeping the first three slots — Wes Brown (16), Ethan Pratt (12) and Everett Michael (10).

Joseph Scully, Mark Peterson and Coy Cantrell topped the Tigers with nine, eight and seven points, respectively.  

CAT finished strong, easily taking all four of the older divisions.

The 13-14 Lady Tigers blew away Currents by a 93-22 margin behind Top 6 double-digit efforts from Maddie Peterson (19), Marian Christmann (17), Sophie Hughes (17), Anya Cory (12), Lilah Parrish (11) and Addie Taubert (10). Lola Phipps also had 10 for the visitors.

Teddy Elliott's "19" led the Boys 13-14 51-28 win, with teammates Andrew Rutledge second with a "baker's dozen." Elias Eldred helped out with nine markers. Carter Young topped the Currents with 11 points.

Carol Lynn Elliott went unopposed for a sweep of all eight points in the Girls 15-Older, while the Tigers topped the evening with a 55-23 win in the oldest boys' division. Ben Condo and Saniago Eldred led the way with 17s, plus Joseph Rodriguez notched 14 markers and Silas Dunn seven.
