I read in your Sunday newspaper about a proposed tax being initiated by a coalition of people for there to be a new tax for childcare services. … I’d just like to say that everybody is going through tough times right now. It should not be anybody else’s responsibility to pay for childcare for a family. If a family wants a child, they should take care of their child entirely and not depend upon the taxpayer to take care of their child throughout their life. With that being said, I vote no, and I will support any ballot against this tax proposal.

If the Longmont airport is really a valuable asset, it ought to be made to be self-sustaining. Longmont should not accept strings-attached FAA grants that take away Longmont’s ability to control its own property.

I stayed up until midnight on Tuesday (June 23) watching the City Council meeting, and I want to say that your reporter, London Lyle, did an excellent job reporting on the Longmont airport issue that came before the council in her report this Sunday and the headline “City Council hesitant to accept money.” Excellent job. Good reporting.

To help with Longmont’s fire department how about we issue a 25% surtax on all fireworks that are sold and brought into the city of Longmont? I’m thinking it would generate some revenue and a severe fine for those who don’t pay the tax. And you probably should have a tax stamp that goes on each of the independent fireworks just to make sure everybody paid it.

Can you imagine the uproar if Kamala Harris was president and was spending all her time redecorating and remodeling Washington, D.C. — painting pools, putting up arches, destroying parts of the White House, putting her name and face on everything and not dealing with everyday problems for the American people?

Without a doubt the USA has some problems but it’s still the best. Anyone who is ashamed to be an American should pack their stuff and leave immediately.
