The news of the day (Friday) here is that the flight school pattern flying over our property is out of control. We have had to cancel a training today. It started at 6 a.m. when we were having our coffee, organizing our day in peace and quiet, when several planes started lapping. It’s been constant all day, and now at 2 p.m. in the afternoon, there’s still three planes lapping at the same time directly over our property every few minutes for eight hours. Even with ear protection, it’s overwhelming, and we are unable to do this work that we have and people visiting. What is it going to take to change this takeover by flight schools?

Our City Council and mayor are committed public servants who are doing their best to make decisions that benefit everyone in Longmont. Whether the issue is sober houses, Flock cameras, the airport, open space, data centers, etc., they all give every issue their attention. They listen respectfully to residents who speak at City Council, ask clarification questions from staff and really weigh their decisions in a thoughtful manner. Please respect their dedication and good hearts.

When we started getting mail from PNC only about confidentiality, we decided we would get out of First Bank before they took over. We took our checking and saving accounts over to High Plains Bank, a true community bank that really cares about their customers and the community, and they do not charge all those fees that other banks do.

No more taxes, not even for safety, not even for the children, not even for open space. The bucket is empty.

My spouse and I found a new restaurant on the Boulder mall. It’s closer to the west side of Broadway, and it’s called Pedro’s, and it was just an old-fashioned Mexican restaurant on the mall. It was something we’ve been waiting for for a long time.

Colorado is a money hole. Money is spent on special interest events trying to make everyone welcome while maintenance items are neglected. Hence, the reason Longmont needs a safety tax and now all of Colorado a road improvement tax. Of course, they spent that budget money on something else. Of course, people want nice streets and quick police response, so they expect the tax increase to pass.
